The new TL15-B is designed for applications that require a high demand for thermal efficiency in both heating and cooling where there is a need for a close temperature approach and a large temperature change. These heat transfer applications include pressure breakers, district cooling interchangers and heat recovery. The TL15-B complements Alfa Laval’s existing range of gasketed plate heat exchangers for HVAC applications because it handles a close temperature approach in the high capacity and load span the unit covers, according to the manufacturer. Depending on media used, permitted pressure drop and temperature program, the TL15-B has a liquid flow rate of up to 1,900 gallons per minute. The company reports that the working principle of the TL15-B is similar to most heat exchangers. Two different media flow through alternate corrugated channels and heat transfer occurs through the plates between the channels.
